SIAMS - Church School Inspection

All Church of England dioceses and the Methodist Church use the Church of England Education Office's framework for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) under Section 48 of the Education Act 2005.  The SIAMS Evaluation Schedule sets out the expectations for the conduct of the Statutory Inspection of Anglican, Methodist and ecumenical Schools under Section 48 of the Education Act 2005.

Purpose

The purpose of a SIAMS inspection is to evaluate the impact of the school’s Christian Vision

Educating for life in all its fullness, committed to excellence and enjoyment through learning, within an enabling environment that nurtures the potential and talents of all; empowering our children with wisdom, knowledge and skills, grounded in the Christian belief that everyone is created in the image and love of God.

‘Teach children how they should live, and they will remember it all their life’. Proverbs 22:6

and how our school operates to live out and achieve this vision.

At Lisle Marsden, we value the importance of partnerships with the Church of England, the Lincoln Diocese and our local church community in offering our children a distinctively Christian experience built on our individual character, vision and ethos. Each church school is unique to its context and therefore evaluated on their individual offering rather than a set criteria.

Focus

The Evaluation Schedule has one inspection question: how effective is the school’s distinctive Christian vision, established and promoted by leadership at all levels, in enabling pupils and adults to flourish?

This is explored through seven questions:

  • How does the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision enable pupils and adults to flourish?
  • How does the curriculum reflect the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision?
  • How is daily collective worship enabling pupils and adults to flourish spiritually?
  • How does the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision create a culture in which pupils and adults are treated well?
  • How does the school’s theologically rooted Christian vision create an active culture of justice and responsibility?
  • Is the religious education curriculum effective (with reference to the expectations set out in the Church of England’s Statement of Entitlement for Religious Education)?
  • What is the quality of religious education?
